(12-7-03, sábado) ¡Hola de nuevo desde el Sur! Hay cosas increíbles que está pasando con todos pero también estamos en una fase de ajustes. Más que nada, somos un equipo muy joven, incluyendo los líderes, sin mucha experiencia en King´s. Durante estos días estamos experimentando un poco de "fricción" entre el liderazgo mientras adaptamos a nuestros papeles. Lo llamamos un “terremoto” de formación. La luna de miel se acabó pero la convivencia divina está en el horizonte. Orad por nuestra unidad. Hello again from the South! Incredible things are happening but we´re also going through an adjustment phase. We are a very young team, including the leaders, with not a lot of King´s Kids experience so far and we´re experiencing a bit of "friction" right now as we adjust to our roles in the team. We call it an "earthquake" of training. The honeymoon is definitely over but we can see divine unity on the horizon. Pray for us!
Hoy, salimos por las plazas en “Murcia vieja”. Actuamos estilo “guerrillero.” Os explico. Portábamos equipo de sonido portátil, mucha agua, y nosotros mismos. Pusimos la música y bailamos un par de canciones. Después, la gente que queda son invitados a participar en una encuesta. Con 38 grados y sin brisa alguna, hicimos dos de esas actuaciones ambulantes. Fue genial. En camino hacia la iglesia, nos duchamos uno a otro en una fuente. Raro, pero nadie se quejó, excepto los que llevaba el equipo de sonido. No te preocupes, Curtis, todo está funcionando bien. Today, we went to the old part of Murcia to do some "guerrilla" performances. Let me explain! We took a battery-powered boom box, a lot of water and ourselves downtown. We turned up the music and danced a couple of songs. Afterwards, we invited the people gathered around to take part in a survey poll. 100 degrees in the shade and no breeze, we did just two of these, but it was great! On the way back to the church, we plastered each other with water from a fountain. Sure, I know this kind of thing isn´t expected on a King´s Kids tour, but nobody was complaining, (except the guys carrying the sound equipment! Don´t worry, Curtis, everything still works!) Anoche era increíble. Actuamos otra vez en el parque cerca de “Renuevo”. Durante un rato de oración, alguien, no voy a decir quién, (Patti), pidió a Dios que un montón de gente viniesen a la actuación. El parque que estaba vacío cinco minutos antes de empezar, desde no sé dónde, se llenó con más de 50 personas. Empezamos nuestro programa un poco al revés con “Yo quiero decirte” seguida por un testimonio guapo de parte de Gretel. Seguimos con “Dime quién está en ti” con un testimonio de Rubén, también genial (tanto él como su testimonio, claro). Después, hicimos un teatro que trata con el suicidio con Dani Lascano, Rubén, Enol, Elliott (de Renuevo,
nuestro nuevo estrella) Gretel, y Rebecca. La póxima canción, "Harto", ha sufrido varias modificaciones por Javi y Alba. En la nueva versión, Danny L. y Javi pelean estilo "Matrix" y acaba con Alejandro haciendo algo parecido a las películas Rocky. Intentábamos acabar la actuación con “Grano de mostaza”, que es un gran éxito aquí en el sur. Salimos otra vez al público, que ahora incluía más de 70 personas, para bailar con ellos. Disfrutaban tanto que, cuando acabó la música, quisieron seguir! Entonces, todos sobrevivieron una versión a-capela de “Espíritu Santo” de parte de Wilcox y quedaban para bailar “Vida Nueva”, “Dime Quien es en ti”, y por supuesto, “Grano de mostaza” otra vez. (nota del editor: Cinco de estos chavales vinieron al culto de la iglesia domingo. ¡Guau!) Last night was really incredible. We had another performance in the park near the "Renuevo " church where we are staying. During a prayer time, someone I won´t name (Patti), asked God to send a whole bunch of people to the performance. The park, which was empty five minutes before we started, from I don´t know where, was suddenly full with at least 50 people. We did our program in reverse with "I Just Gotta Tell You" followed by a great testimony from Gretel (10 years old) Then came "Tell Me Who´s in the House" with Reuben sharing. Great! (both Reuben and the testimony, of course!) Then a drama about suicide, and a new version of "Harto". Javi and Alba have changed the choreography somewhat to where Dani and Javi do a fight secuence a la "Matrix" ending with Alejandro acting like Rocky Balboa. You had to be there... We tried to end with "Grano de Mostaza", which to no one´s surprise, has been a big hit here in the south. Now the audience was more like 70 people. They enjoyed dancing this song with us so much that we couldn´t stop. So, after surviving an acapella rendition of "Ho-o-oly Spirit" by Matt Wilcox, we danced two more songs, and of course, "Grano de Mostaza" one more time. Five of the kids from there joined us at the Sunday morning church service. Wow!
