29-7-2003 Final report

We arrived in Alicante one day after an alleged ETA bomb had gone off in a beachside hotel with many wounded. Needless to say, we started the visit off with a time of serious prayer!

Our first actuacion almost didn't happen because the permit our host church had applied for was lost. After more serious prayer the next morning we sent Javier, Raquel, and Damian along with the Pastor, to go straighten it out. Turns out they had never heard of King's Kids so our representatives turned on the charm and showed them some of these web page reports and the result was we got a permit to act in an even bigger plaza that night! Wow!

Llegamos en Alicante un día después de un atentado de ETA en un hotel con muchos heridos. No hay que decir que empezamos nuestra estancia con un rato de oración sería. Nuestra primera actuación casi no ocurrió porque nuestro permiso solicitado por la iglesia allí fue denegtado. Después de un rato más de oración, enviamos a Javi, Raquel y Damian con el pastor para rectificar la cosa. Resultó que los responsables del ayuntamiento no sabía nada de quienes eran los King´s y por eso rehusaron el permiso. Pero con las caras dulces de Damian y Raquel, un vistazo a nuestra página de web y una poca de gracia desde arriba, ellos nos concedieron un permiso por una plaza aun más grande! ¡Guau!

The next day we went "commando" (i.e. Portable CD and Encuestas) again, this time on the waterfront Rambla in Alicante. We also had a wonderful surprise when our friends from Renueva in Murcia showed up to encourage us. Manu, Javi, Salma and Hermeca made the hour drive to visit us and seriously refreshed us just as they did when we were with them only two short weeks before. Thanks guys!!!
The final night we ministered in the church to those who had been invited at our first actuacion in the plaza. Many were moved to tears (no, not because it was so bad) and Javier delivered a powerful testimony and message. Patri presented the program beautifully and the King's Kids were in top form. Man, I am proud of them! We finished again with "Amigos" and will arry with us many fond memories of the Church and Alicante.

El día siguiente hicimos otras actuaciones "guerrilleros" (un minicadena portátil y encuestas) esta vez en la rambla marítimo de Alicante. Tuvimos una grata sorpresa cuando nuestros amigos desde la Iglesia Renueva en Murcia vinieron para animarnos. Manu, Javi, Salma y Hermeca hizo el recorrido de una hora para refrescarnos como lo hicieron cuando estuvimos en su ciudad hace dos semanas. ¡¡Gracias, tios!!

La última noche, ministrábamos en la iglesia con los que habían visto nuestra primera actuación en la plaza. Muchos lloraron, (y no porque la actuación fue mala...). Javi entregó un mensaje potente y Patri presentó el programa estupendamente mientras los King´s estaban todos a punto. Estoy muy orgulloso de ellos. Acabamos la noche con "Amigos" y llevaremos muchos recuerdos bonitos de la iglesia Cristo Vive y Alicante.

Our last day was a light debriefing, a movie, and a nice Chinese dinner. We travelled through the night to make it back to Barcelona for the full team celebration in JAUME the next day. The teams from Italy and Lithuania came and we shared great fellowship, testimonies, programs, comida, and story after story.

I personally am at a loss for words for all the kids taught me on this tour. Sharing life for this month was an incredible experience I will treasure for a lifetime. Thank you ALL who made this possible from the bottom of my heart.
