20-7-03 Saludos desde Lituania, (dondequiera esté...). Después de unos pequeños sustos (como no tener billetes de avión una semana antes de marcharnos) despegamos el 18 de julio rumbo a Vilnius! Fue el primer vuelo para Jorge sin pañales (la última vez fue cuando sólo tenía unos meses) y su primer viaje fuera del país! Una vez llegados al aeropuerto en Praga, el "flamenco espontáneo" irrumpió de nuevo.Estamos contentos de estar con "Er Sevillano" en esta gran aventura!
Después de la escala en la República Checa, llegamos a tiempo en Vilnius donde Vilita, nuestro contacto aquí, estaba esperándonos con un minibus cómodo. Pero nos saludó con las noticias que el viaje a nuestro destino iba a tardar cuatro horas, no las dos que esperábamos. Con un coro roncando al unísono, al fin llegamos a las tres de la madrugada - dormidos pero entusiasmados por ser parte del plan de Dios en este rincón norteño de Europa. Greetings to you from Lithuania (wherever that is...). After a few minor scares (like not having any tickets a week before our departure!!) we took off on July 18 for Vilnius! It was Jorge´s first airplane flight not wearing diapers (he´s only flown once as a baby) and first time ever outside the country. Once we got into the airport in Prague, the "spontaneous flamenco" emerged again. We´re all happy to be part of the great adventure for "Er Sevillano"!
We arrived ontime in Vilnius, where, thankfully, Vilita, our local contact was waiting for us with a minibus for the trip to Klaipeda. But, we found out that it was a four-hour trip to the coastal city where we would be staying. A 3am arrival left us a bit groggy the next day, but still excited to be part of God´s plan in this northern corner of Europe.
Estamos a medios de Julio, pero parece más bien como principios de la primavera. Todo está verde y creciendo con bosques en todo lugar. Nos ha sorprendido gratamente la amabilidad de la gente y el aspecto moderno de las dos ciudades que hemos visto. Un colegio con suelos de madera es nuestro hogar durante la semana próxima con 10 jóvenes Lituanos, un Irlandés y unos Americanos completando nuestro personal en un campamento que va a recibir 75 chavales hoy después de la comida! Hemos estado preparando juegos, "la Haka", enseñando principos de los King´s y preguntándonos cómo vamos a meter tanta gente en la sala pequeñita que tenemos para reuniones!
Los Lituanos nos han recibido con brazos abiertos y nos lo pasábamos bomba anoche mirando a Jorge y Kari bailando flamenco, y dando puntuaciones en el concurso de eruptos ganado por Natalie! Hemos comido tomates para el desayuno y apreciado mucho las tardes más frequitas después de perder kilos de sudor en Barcelona la semana antes de marcharnos. It´s mid-July, but looks like early spring in the rest of the world. Everything is green, forested and growing. We´ve been pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and modern development taking place all over. A school with creaking wood floors is our home for the next week. We are joined by 10 Lithuanian young people, an Irishman and a couple of Americans who will be the staff for a camp of 75 Lithuanian kids aged 12-18 arriving today after lunchtime! We´ve been planning games, practicing the "haka", sharing King´s Kids principles and wondering how in the world we are going to get so many stuffed into the meeting room. The Lithuanians have really welcomed us with open arms. You should have seen us last night, Jorge and Kari dancing Flamenco, while Natalie and the Lithuanian leader tried to see who could produce the longest belch (Natalie won!) We have eaten tomatoes and cucmbers for breakfast and really appreciated the cooler nights after sweating off a few kilos during the week in Barcelona before coming. 
Ayer, nadamos en un lago cercano. Fue un día nubloso y frio, para hay que tomar provecha del verano mientras puedas. En el invierno hace muchísimo frío. Todas las casas tienen techos muy inclinados y son bien aislados para mantenerse con calor adentro cuando hace -26 grados fuera! Esperamos conectar al internet mañana para poner este reportaje en la red. Orad que Dios venga al campamento para cambiar muchas vidas para siempre. We swam in a nearby lake yesterday. It was cloudy and cold by the time we got there but you have to take advantage of summer while you can, It gets REALLY cold here in the wintertime. All the homes and buildings have very steep roofs and are well insulated to keep you warm inside when it is -26 C (about -15 F) outside! We hope to get connected on internet tomorrow to get this out to you. Pray for this camp that God would come and change lives forever.
